Emily Jones began her dance training in San Antonio, Texas at a young age. She trained and performed with the San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet for three years. After graduating High School, she had the privilege to receive private instruction from Theodore Nelson, a former soloist with the Joffrey Ballet.
Emily received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Sam Houston State University and graduated Cum Laude in May 2008. During her time at Sam Houston, Emily performed in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Pointe, and Modern choreography in Faculty, Graduate, and Undergraduate performances. She also had the honor to dance in original guest artist choreography by Joy Kellman of NYU and Marlana Walsh of the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company.
In 2008, Emily joined Houston’s Ad Deum Dance Company, which is under the direction of Randall Flinn. While with Ad Deum, she performed in choreography by Randall Flinn, Steve Rookes – former principal with Martha Graham, Bill Wade – Artistic Director of Inlet Dance Company, Christina Schanta, and Melissa Brading. In 2011, Emily took a leadership role with Ad Deum, working as the Rehearsal Director for Ad Deum II.
Emily Jones has been teaching Ballet and Modern in the Sugar Land area for the past 4 years. Her desire is to continue to teach and to pass on her love for dance and performance with the students at Dance De Coeur.
