Special Classes

Tumbling for Dancers Beginner and Advanced
The goal of this class is for dancers to learn basic acrobatic moves such as rolls, cartwheels, front walk overs, back handsprings, and aerials to incorporate into their dance routines. Beginner (ages 5 through 12) offered Fridays at 4 p.m, Advanced offered Fridays at 5 p.m.

Drill Team Prep (ages 12 and up)
Designed for those who want to try out for their school drill team or dance team or are already members but want to improve their skills, this class teaches basic jazz elements, leaps, and turns.Offered Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.

Leaps and Turns Beginner and Advanced
This class if focused on improving one’s Jete, center split leap, turning leap, switch leap, Pique, pirouette, Fouette and more. Students are taught ways to increase strength and flexibility to achieve better results. Offered Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Fridays at 4 p.m.

Theatrics & Mime (ages 12 and up)
The Art of Silence, mime transcends every age and ethnicity, to explore the human soul through in its comedy and poetry without the chains of linguistics. Through stylized gestures, learn to transport yourself and others into entire worlds of imagination. This course includes an Introduction to Mime Technique, Character, Body Control, the Robot, the Wall, Illusions, Advanced Technique, Rhythms, Statues, Metamorphosis, and more...Offered Tuesdays at 5 p.m.

Boys Technique (ages 9 and up)
Tailored specifically for guys, this class will explore movement and dance both technically and expressively with am emphasis on the masculine. Drawn from a predominantly modern dance technique, students will learn form and style, with a focus on leaps, jumps, rolls, and floor-work that will range from tribal to mechanical, building strength, balance, coordination, and body awareness that makes football look like duck pin bowling. Offered Tuesdays at 4 p.m.

Action Theater (ages 10 and up)
This exciting, fast paced class is a combination of mime, dance, stage combat, fencing and karate. Students will learn a smattering of techniques from each movement form to increase their speed, strength, and physical theatricality for action movement. They will gain a greater stage awareness and prowess, and be accelerated to explosive, new levels of performance in stage combat choreography.

Improv Expression (ages 10 and up)
Life is storytelling, and storytelling is exploration. Through a diversity of disciplines, students will explore expression, movement, story, and character. Improv-ing dance, mime, speech, acting... learning to think on one's feet, back, or head, this class in designed to develop the student's mind and body to be free to discover, learn, and create. Improv skills enhance an artist's craft, to make them a fuller, more confident performer and person. Offered Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

For the Young Child

Mommy & Me
(ages 18 months to 24 months of age): In this one hour class, the young child will get to work with Mom to learn the basics of movement, music, and rhythm. Designed to be fun and entertaining, this class will instill a sense of love for dance and music so that the child will want to pursue classes when he or she gets older. Offered Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m.

Mini Movers (3 to 4 years old)
This is an introductory class which incorporates props, games, and exercises to teach the basics of rhythm, memorization, and Ballet. Children will learn different ways to move their bodies to music, drawing on their own creativity as well. Children must be fully potty trained. Offered Thursdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m.

Combo Movers (5 to 6 years old)
This is a combination class of Ballet, Jazz, and Tap basics. Children learn the beginning elements of dance in a setting that instills discipline in a positive, encouraging manner. Offered Wednesdays at 4 p.m., Thursdays at 4 p.m., and Saturdays at 11 a.m.

Beginner—Advanced

*Ballet I—Advanced
Ballet is the foundation for all other western dance. It uses precise, highly formalized movements and teaches grace, posture, flexibility, and discipline. Students in Ballet will work at the barre to develop their balance, proper placement, and the positions. Ballet classes also include Center Work, and Variations. Students shall be placed in a class based on a teacher evaluation. Ballet I is Thursdays at 4 p.m., Ballet II is Thursdays at 5 p.m., Ballet III is Mondays at 5 p.m. , Ballet IV is Mondays at 6 p.m., Wednesdays at 6 p.m., and Saturdays at 1:00, Advanced Ballet is Mondays at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Teen/Adult Ballet is Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

Pointe I, II
This advanced ballet class is for students ages 12 and up who have been evaluated and approved by their instructor. Students learn proper en pointe technique and variations. Offered Wednesdays at 7 p.m and 8 p.m.

*Jazz, Beg.—Advanced
This fast paced class incorporates quick turns, jumps, and power moves to create an energetic dance form. It teaches center control, spotting, and leaps. Jazz allows dancers some freedom of interpretation when executing steps and moves, which makes this class fun and exciting. Jazz dancers need a strong background in ballet to excel. Jazz I is Mondays at 5 p.m., Jazz II is Tuesdays at 6 p.m., Jazz III is Mondays at 7:30, Advanced Jazz is Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

*Contemporary/Lyrical
Beginner—Advanced
This dance form emphasizes the body's natural lines, allowing a greater range and fluidity of movement . It is versatile and can be combined with other dance styles to create unique and creative movements. It is a highly expressive dance form and students will learn how to bring emotion and music interpretation to their art. Beginner is Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Level II is Thursdays at 4 p.m., Level III is Mondays at 7:30, Advanced is Mondays at 6 p.m. , Teen/ Adult is Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

Hip-Hop, Beg.— Advanced
Hip Hop dancing is a style that combines footwork, freezes, and body isolations in time to Hip Hop music. Students will learn the basics of Popping and Locking, as well as Jazz Funk. This is an energetic class that will help students develop their sense of rhythm, timing, creativity, and self confidence. Beginner Offered Mondays and Tuesdays at 4 p.m. all other levels on Tuesday.

Tap, Beg.—Advanced
Tap is a rhythmic dance form characterized by the sounds of tap shoes on the floor in time with music. This class helps students develop a sense of rhythm and coordination and teaches them syncopation, which helps them in all other dance forms. Students will learn all major tap steps and progress into Timesteps and combinations in the advanced classes. Offered Tuesdays.
